Education

I became a student of Harlandale ISD in the third grade.  I attended Gillette Elementary, Terrell Wells Middle School, and graduated from Mccollum High School.  GO COWBOYS!!  I earned a degree in Mathematics from St. Mary's University.

Experience

For two years, while attending St. Mary's University,  I taught ESL (English as a Second Language) to adults.  After working twenty years in the corporate world, I decided to make a career change and, in 2008, earned my certification as an elementary bilingual teacher.  I began my teaching career,  here at Gillette Elementary, in the fall of 2008 .  I taught third grade monolingual for two years and fourth grade bilingual for one year.  In 2011, I began a two year assignment as the ARI (Accelerated Reading Instruction) teacher for our campus.  Beginning in 2013, I  served Gillette as the Instructional Math Coach.  Most recently, in 2016,  I re-entered the classroom as a fourth grade dual-language teacher.

Bio

I have been married to Mario Moreno (a Burbank Bulldog) since 1997.  We have three incredibly talented children:  Matthew, who attends UTSA and aspires to become a music director.; Kristina, a McCollum Cowboy and talented soccer player; and Nathan, our Gillette Spur who loves football.  Our dog, Toby, completes our little family.

I enjoy lazy days at the river, backyard BBQs,  the movies, and shopping!  I especially love hanging out with my kids!  They are my sunshine!!
